| FENDER MUSICAL INSTRUMENT gave
birth to a star in the mid 1950's. It's name - Stratocaster. The
brains behind this legendary instrument were Leo Fender (founder of FMI),
Bill Carson, Freddie Tavares, Donald Randall, George Fullerton and Rex
Galleon. The gathering of these men would forever change the tunes we
hear in music.
At this time, FMI already had the Telecaster as their
flagship electric guitar. The need to design a new guitar was a result
of competing with Bigsby. Work started out in 1951. It was not until the
spring of 1954 that the Strat was seen on the streets. The
Stratocaster's design was originally a custom design made for Bill. The
curves and design was crafted specifically for his needs.
